Global Easts: Why It Matters

The conference "GLOBAL EASTS: WHY IT MATTERS" brings together scholars to explore how to study, research, and teach the Global Easts. We approach the Global Easts as a heterogeneous region shaped by shared historical trajectories as well as by diverse and often divergent contemporary dynamics. At the same time, the region is marked by its own epistemic traditions, which must be taken into account when developing research and teaching agendas for this fluid and evolving space.
This qunique event is two-fold – on the first day it is open to the public, whilst the proceedings on the following two days are held behind closed doors.

- How do we define and delimit the "Global Easts" without reducing its internal diversity or enforcing rigid geopolitical boundaries?
- Which local frameworks, knowledge systems, and methodological approaches are most effective for researching the region on its own terms?
- How can we design curricula and teaching strategies that accurately reflect the region's historical complexities and contemporary realities?
