The lecture presents an anthropological research carried on in France and in Italy on transition of age and bodily experience among the 9-13 years old. It explores how age and gender categories are socially constructed and intertwined at different levels: in epidemiological research on precociuos puberty, in clinical observations, in media's social panic about hypersexualisation of girls, and in the everyday life of girls and boys.
Nicoletta Diasio is anthropologist and sociologist, professor at the University of Strasbourg and coordinator of the research team "Being European: The body, health, and biographical turning points (UMR CNRS 7367 Dynamiques Européennes). After having drawn up a comparative epistemology of anthropology and medicine in Europe, she analysed body's dynamics is the moments of social and individual change, transition or crisis. Age, gender, generational order, memory are the main topics of her research.
Prof. Nicoletta Diasio została zaproszona przez Interdyscyplinarny Zespół Badań and Dzieciństwem UW w ramach projektu Zdrowie w opiniach dzieci - ujęcie childhood studies, finansowanego ze środków Narodowego Centrum Nauki (projekt nr UMO-2014/15/B/HS3/02477).
