We opened the Gabinet Gallery - Julia Ciunowicz's exhibition "Fiber and Shelter"
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, University of Warsaw, we opened a micro-museum of contemporary art - the Gabinet Gallery. The first exhibition consists of works by Julia Ciunowicz, a textile artist, craftswoman and researcher working on the border of socially and ecologically engaged art.

The works presented at the exhibition concern techniques of working with natural animal and plant fibers - raw sheep fleece, felt, curls, grasses, straw. In this way, it establishes a dialogue with the practices of insulating shelters, houses, buildings, with traditional techniques of creating felt and felt products in Central and East Asia, used, among others, in Mongolia, where ethnologists from the University of Warsaw have been conducting field research since the 1970s.
The exhibition can be viewed on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 14:00 in room 101 (first floor).
